Yes, Wind Chimes make noise. Yes, Wind chimes are annoying. And yes, if you have one hanging up outside with other properties nearby, you probably have a neighbor that hates your guts and curses you every time the sound resonates into their home.

Wind chimes are offensive, uninviting, obnoxious AND THEY CAUSE FUCKING ANXIETY.

Keep your neighbors in mind, be a considerate person, don’t subject them to something they have no control over and have no other way to avoid them.

No, they are not relaxing. Relaxing would be NOT having to hear a constant and purposeless reverberating noise that fluctuates depending on the breeze’s intensity. No, they are not music. I can dance, sing, vibe to music. No, they do not fend off demons. Quite the opposite, they feed mine.

Noise pollution is noise pollution, there’s no going around the definition. Even if they “aren’t that loud” (notice the quotes being used because it’s the same shit everyone responds to when confronted), they are still bothersome, and you have no business putting them in a place where others are affected by them.

No, I will not wear earplugs inside the comfort of my house.
No, I won’t put on music or have the TV on all the time to dilute the noise.
No, I won’t take sleeping pills to help me get a good night’s sleep.

Basically, I don’t want to hear the same noises that ‘you find relaxing.’

Why not listen to the fucking sounds of nature, the leaves rustling, the birds chirping… Shit, even the UPS truck or people taking out their trash is better. At least that’s just A SINGULAR MOMENT of noise, and it goes away.

Why the hell would you think that we’d both enjoy the same thing, and you’ll just impose it on me?

If you have access to your neighbors wind chimes (you share a deck, balcony, entrance, exit, etc.) take it down before you go to sleep, and just put it back up when you wake up. No harm, no foul. Victimless solution.

I rarely make any noises and keep to myself. Most people aren’t inconsiderate assholes (although they do exist), they just don’t even have the minimum awareness of how their actions affect others RIGHT NEXT TO THEM.
